Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association is now accepting original works in the following categories for 2017 Please list sub-genres for each category you are submitting.  Submission period is July 1, 2016 - January 31,  2017. NO LATE SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED. NO ACCEPTIONS!  Mailing address:

African Diaspora:

All Works must have a completion year of July 1, 2015 or later.

Works submitted in any language other than English must have English subtitles and NTSC format.

Each submission must be made online and include the submission form, entry fee,  200+ word summary of the original work and web or URL link. More than one entry can be submitted; however each entry must be accompanied by a separate on-line submission form, entry fee, color high resolution professional photo, 200+ word summary of the film and URL link.  The URL link of your original work must be available until March 15, 2017.


Submission of any original work via the entry form certifies that you are the rightful owner of the submitted work and own all rights and releases necessary for public screening( if film). All legal clearances and releases including, including talent, music or footage are the responsibility of the artist. The submitted film is not subject to litigation and is not threatened by litigation. You give permission to Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association to utilize clips or stills of your entry for promotional purposes and in any format or form.

Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association will be responsible for damage to or loss of any submitted materials in route to the Festival. The sender is responsible for all shipping costs (including customs and delivery fees).

Please Note: DVDs/Blue Rays will ONLY be returned if a self-addressed, paid envelope is provided and included with the accepted film submission.

* must not contain racist, sexist, offensive or defamatory statements
* must not cause harm to anyone
* must not be an invasion of privacy
* must have complete rights to film’s content
* must have a copyright owner who is at least 18 years of age


The Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Committee will review all submissions and determine which entries will be screened for nomination.

 All submissions will be judged on the following components:

Production quality – whether the film, video, documentary, book, is aesthetically pleasing and fulfills industry standards, story development and execution, and whether or not the original work successfully reaches its intended audience. 


Please note that submission fees cannot be waived.


DISCLAIMER: All Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards events and activities will be filmed to be used as show material, commercials, advertising and the like.  Please be aware that you may be recorded at any point before, during, or after any all activities. By submitting and participating in any way, which includes purchasing tickets to events, you are agreeing to give  permission to use your likeness and/or image for promotional or entertainment purposes for itself, and/or its clients, including but not limited to web, television, film, enhanced CD and DVD distribution.

The submitter undertakes to indemnify and keep Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association indemnified against all liabilities, claims, demands, actions, costs, damages or loss arising out of the submission, acceptance and/or screening of the film and/or its related material.

The submitter also understands and acknowledges that the online submission form and the present rules and regulations form a consolidated and unified document and that therefore the online submission form shall be considered as incorporated herein by reference.    

 



BWIJAA  IMAGE AND MATERIALS PUBLICATION CONSENT AND PERMISSION

In furtherance of Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards' mission, and without expectation of compensation or other remuneration, I hereby give my irrevocable consent and permission to Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association and their respective successors and assigns, sponsors, licensees, affiliates, and employees for the following:

(a) to film, photograph, tape or otherwise record a video or audio record of me;

(b) to use my name, image, and visual or audio recordings of me (regardless of the medium in which my name, image or statements appear, including audio recordings, video recordings, photographs, electronic images, and the like from the Internet via social media sites), original materials created by me in connection with the Event (e.g. photos, videos, audio recordings and/or creative works such as drawings, poems and essays regardless of medium of publication and including publication on the Internet via social media sites), and any other information related to my participation in the event(s) (e.g. participant number, team name) (collectively, "the Materials"), for all promotional purposes related to the Event by Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association, and their respective successors and assigns, sponsors, licensees, affiliates, and employees (collectively "grantees"); and

(c) to use, reproduce, publish, exhibit, distribute and transmit, worldwide and in perpetuity, the Materials, in whole or in part, in any print, broadcast or electronic media now known or hereafter developed, including the Internet and social media, (i) for educational and awareness campaigns, fundraising, in connection with the promotion of Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association's  products or programs and/or for any other legitimate purpose, (ii) to create composite or computer-manipulated materials from the Materials, (iii) without compensation to me.

The grantees may assign any of the above rights to third parties.

I waive the right to inspect or approve any materials that incorporate the Materials. I release the grantees from any liability, damages, or claims resulting from the use of the Materials, including, but not limited to, claims for libel or invasion of privacy. I understand and agree that the terms of this Section are binding on my releasors, assigns, and legal representatives.

In the event any provision of this Waiver and Release of Liability and Image And Materials Publication Consent and Permission is deemed unenforceable by law, (i) Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association shall have the right to modify such provision to the extent necessary to be deemed enforceable; and (ii) all other provisions of this Waiver and Release of Liability and Image and Materials Publication Consent and Permission shall remain in full force and effect.

I have carefully read this Waiver and Release of Liability and Image and Materials Publication Consent and Permission, fully understand its contents and agree to all statements of understanding set forth above. I hereby represent and warrant that all information that I supply in connection with my participation, including, but not limited to, in this Waiver and Release of Liability, is accurate and truthful and understand that the Black Women In Jazz & The Arts Awards Association is relying upon this Waiver and Release of Liability and the representations made herein as a condition of my participation. I am aware that by agreeing to this Waiver and Release of Liability and Image and Materials Publication Consent and Permission, I am waiving substantial legal rights, and knowing this, I agree of my own free will without any inducement, assurance or guarantee being made to me and intend my check of the "agree" box to be a complete and unconditional release of liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.
